CPID Commences Construction of Two Energy Storage Demonstration Projects
September 24, 2021, Golmud 100MW/200MWh Energy Storage Power Station commenced its construction. The project is EPC-contracted by Xinyuan Intelligent Energy Storage Co., Ltd. - a subsidiary of CPID. It is a shared energy storage project with the largest capacity in Qinghai Province and one of CPID's demonstration projects in the shared energy storage market.
The Golmud Project is located in the PV industrial park in the east of Golmud City, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. It incorporates advanced system integration technology and is characterized by high safety, long service life, high performance, high integration and intelligent management. The Golmud Project operates on a new business model of "shared energy storage". In particular, it utilizes local abandoned wind and solar power to charge batteries which discharge clean power to the system to increase power supply during peak periods, thus achieving connection of the shared energy storage system. While realizing the multiple benefits of energy storage, the Golmud Project will further promote regional energy structure optimization and ecological environment improvement.
September 14, 2021, the Changshu 2×1000MW Energy Storage and Frequency Regulation Project, as CPID's first auxiliary energy storage service project, commenced its construction.
The Changshu Project is planned to have a 30MW/30MWh energy storage system next to Unit 6 of Changshu Power Plant to provide ancillary service of frequency regulation for Units 5 and 6. This is the first EPC project of Xinyuan Intelligent Energy Storage Co., Ltd., and the company will strive to make it a benchmark demonstration project of energy storage for ancillary services for power grid.
