Gemstar Tower Rooftop PV Power Project Put into Operation
Recently, the Gemstar Tower Rooftop PV Power Project, with a capacity of 200 kW, has passed CPID's acceptance test and been connected to the power grid. The project marks a new step in CPID's positive response to the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, giving full play to the advantages of clean energy industry, guarding the beautiful "Pearl of the Orient", promoting the transition to green and low-carbon production and life, and boosting the economic and social development of Hong Kong.
The project is a distributed PV demonstration project jointly developed by CPID and the Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas), and has become a symbol of CPID in Hong Kong. The project was commenced on July 26, 2021, and was completed on schedule despite the adverse impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and extreme weathers. After rounds of communication and coordination among multiple parties, the project successfully passed the acceptance test and was officially connected to the grid for power generation.
Since the HKSAR government encouraged the development of renewable power generation projects, CPID has taken a series of active actions. On the one hand, it strengthened external contacts to expand the market, explore potential customers and identify high-quality resources. On the other hand, CPID signed a cooperation agreement with Towngas, one of the largest energy suppliers in Hong Kong, to establish a professional cooperation platform and develop integrated smart energy, rooftop PV and other renewable energy projects in Hong Kong. Gemstar Tower Rooftop PV Power Project is the first clean energy project co-developed by CPID and Towngas, and both sides are also orderly promoting and securing a number of clean energy projects.
