CPID (02380.HK): Two Energy Storage Demonstration Projects Connected to Power Grid

On December 30, 2022, Xinyuan Smart Energy Storage Co., Ltd. (Xinyuan) under China Power International Development Limited (China Power or CPID, stock code: 02380.HK) successfully connected two projects to the grid, Weishan 100 MW/200 MWh Peaking Energy Storage Power Station Demonstration Project and Golmud 100 MW/200 MWh Shared Energy Storage Power Station Demonstration Project.

The Weishan project, located in Weishan, Jining City, Shandong Province, integrates a variety of advanced energy storage technologies from home and abroad. The new breakthroughs in energy management and battery system can effectively optimize regional power resource allocation and ease the pressure of regional power grid peaking.

The Golmud project, located in Golmud, Qinghai Province, has proved the safety and reliability of the energy storage system in harsh environment such as high altitude (3,200 m) and large temperature difference (-30°C to +35°C), and can ensure high safety, long life and high performance of the energy storage power station by virtue of smart temperature control system and advanced system integration technology. After being commissioned, the project can realize the coordinated dispatch and trading of new energy power stations and collection stations, and help build a new power system in Golmud.

Up to now, Xinyuan has deployed projects with a total capacity of more than 2,400 MWh and planned future projects with a total capacity of 2,500 MWh, in more than a dozen provinces across China including Qinghai, Shandong, Jiangsu and Anhui. Meanwhile, the first overseas energy storage project is under construction in Puerto Penasco, Mexico.
