Wuqiangxi Hydropower Station Has Been Operating Safely for 10,000 Consecutive Days

As of January 16, 2023, Wuqiangxi Hydropower Station under Wuling Power Generation Company had been operating safely for 10,000 consecutive days.

Since its commercial operation in 1995, the station has incorporated new concepts, standards and requirements for safety management into its operation. From "remote centralized control" to "remote operation and maintenance", the station has been improving its equipment health and monitoring through technology and management innovation, with its production and safety status visible online.

Up to now, the station has generated 143,200 GWh of electricity, making great contributions in meeting the peak demands in winter and summer in Hunan Province and to the safe and stable operation of the power grid in Central China. As a national key reservoir for flood control, the reservoir can intercept floodwater, and once successfully resisted the big floods in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2014, 2017 and 2020, making an important contribution to flood relief in the downstream Dongting Lake region and even the Yangtze River basin and effectively safeguarding people's lives and property.
