Battery-Swap Electric Heavy-Duty Truck with CTB Batteries Announced for Commercial Use
Recently, the first two models of battery-swap electric heavy-duty trucks equipped with CTB batteries, independently developed and manufactured by Qiyuan Core Power Co., Ltd. (Qiyuan Core Power), a subsidiary of CPID, were announced by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China (MIIT).
The battery-swap electric heavy-duty trucks are FAW Jiefang 6 × 4 battery-swap tractors and SAIC Hongyan 8×4 battery-swap dump trucks. Qiyuan Core Power will provide 284 kWh power batteries for them.
CTB batteries are the first vehicle-mounted storage-shared batteries independently developed and produced by Qiyuan Core Power, and adopt the innovative grouping method of directly integrating cells into the vehicle frame, which has comparative advantages in integration, thermal management, battery management, and charging and discharging efficiency. In addition, CTB batteries are compatible with the standard vehicle bottom bracket, and can be adapted to more than 500 models and 86% of battery-swap electric heavy-duty truck models in the market, and can be used for high-speed battery swap at more than 300 Qiyuan Core Power battery swap stations across the country.
China has established an access system for automobile manufacturers and their products, and the models to be produced by enterprises must be approved and licensed by the MIIT and announced to the public. The announcement of this product means that the battery system independently developed and produced by Qiyuan Core Power has won the recognition of host manufacturers and officially entered the commercial stage, and marks the further expansion of its ecology of green electric transportation products.
