China Power Signs Framework Agreement on Energy Storage Pilot Project with CPIH, KEGOC and AREK
On December 4, 2023, China Power signed a framework agreement on an energy storage pilot project with China Power International Holding Ltd. (CPIH), Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC) and Association of Renewable Energy of Kazakhstan (AREK) in Beijing. Mr. Nabi Aitzhanov, Chairman and CEO of KEGOC, and Mr. Arman Kashkinbekov, CEO of AREK, attended the signing ceremony.
China Power welcomed the KEGOC delegation, thanked them for their support in various wind and PV power projects of China Power Kazakhstan Energy Investment Co., Ltd., and introduced the development history and strategic layout of China Power and CPIH, focusing on China Power's achievements in clean energy and emerging industries in recent years, especially in the field of energy storage. At present, China Power is accelerating the implementation of the new strategy. It hopes that all parties can speed up the pilot project and cooperate more closely in green and low-carbon energy to promote the high-quality development of clean energy and emerging industries in both countries, so as to create more fruitful results for the people of both countries.
KEGOC appreciated the project results achieved by China Power and CPIH in Kazakhstan, and introduced KEGOC's basic situation, strategic positioning and business scope. At the same time, KEGOC expressed that as the main manager, maintainer and builder of the Unified Power Transmission System in Kazakhstan and an important member of the Unified Power Transmission System in Central Asia, KEGOC is willing to promote communication at all levels on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding on Energy Storage Cooperation and the Framework Agreement on Energy Storage Pilot Project signed with China Power in the previous period and the first pilot project on energy storage in Kazakhstan as soon as possible, so that the first benchmark project using Chinese standards in the field of energy storage system can be realized in Kazakhstan. At the meeting, KEGOC also expressed its willingness to cooperate with China Power to jointly explore the field of upgrading and transformation of traditional coal-fired power plants in Kazakhstan, promote the process of zero carbon emissions in Kazakhstan, and make steady progress towards high-quality development hand in hand.
