China Power's PEDF Microgrid Project Wins Award at UN Climate Change Conference
From November 30 to December 12, 2023, the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) was held in Dubai Expo City, UAE. During the conference, China Power's photovoltaic, energy storage, direct current and flexibility (PEDF) microgrid project, located at Zhuangshang Village, Ruicheng County, Shanxi Province, received the "Energy Transition Changemakers" award.
The COP28 granted the "Energy Transition Changemakers" award to excellent decarbonization projects selected and evaluated by expert committees from around the world in four sectors: Renewables, Renewable Integration & Clean Power; Energy Efficiency; Low-Carbon Hydrogen; and Heavy Emitting Sectors (Steel, Cement, and Aluminum). China Power's PEDF microgrid project at Zhuangshang Village stood out from more than 2,000 projects worldwide, becoming one of the 39 selected projects worldwide and one of the five selected projects in China.
The award fully reflects the international community's attention to China Power's PEDF distribution systems, and the high recognition of China Power's support for rural revitalization. The development of PEDF distribution systems is of long-term significance, and will promote the global energy transition, facilitate sustainable development and create a greener future.
