China Power Officially Joins UN Global Compact
On June 3, 2024, China Power passed the review of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and formally became a UNGC member. China Power is committed to upholding UNGC's ten principles on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption. This marks international recognition by a reputable organization of China Power's ESG-related efforts, and is a significant step in enhancing its global influence, actively building international communication channels, and advancing its internationalization process.
As a UNGC member, China Power gains access not only to capacity-building resources through participation in global and regional strategic activities and various training programs, but also leverages accelerator projects to promote advanced technological achievements and case studies globally, setting benchmarks. UNGC will also help member organizations access high-quality market opportunities for joint construction under the Belt and Road Initiative. Through its action platform, China Power can identify international cooperation projects, drive overseas business development, and promote mutually beneficial cooperation.
Founded in 2000, UNGC is the originator of the ESG concept and currently the most influential international organization promoting corporate sustainable development worldwide. UNGC continues to assist companies in integrating its ten principles into their strategies and operations, advancing broader United Nations goals through collaboration and partnerships. Currently, UNGC has over 24,000 companies and other stakeholders participating from approximately 170 countries. Among them, over 1,000 participants are from China, including many well-known central enterprises.
