SPIC Shandong Energy Releases over 376 Million Aquatic Seeds in Three Years

Recently, under the supervision of local marine fishery authorities, SPIC Shandong Energy Development Co., Ltd. ("SPIC Shandong Energy") conducted a release of 180 million fish and shrimp fry as part of the 2024 Southern Peninsula Offshore Wind Power Base's stocking program. This effort aims to further promote marine ecological restoration and support the sustainable development of local marine fisheries. To date, 523,000 golden cuttlefish, 953,000 Sepiella maindroni, 14.18 million swimming crabs and 1.053 million Korean rockfish have been released.

SPIC Shandong Energy has carried out marine stocking in this area for three consecutive years, adhering to the principles of legality, project development, and ecological restoration, integrating marine ecological protection with construction projects to maintain the marine ecological balance in the Southern Peninsula. According to an expert group from the Institute for Advanced Study of Coastal Ecology at Ludong University, the 360 million marine organisms released by Shandong Energy from 2022 to 2023 have already replenished 1.822 million Chinese shrimp, mitten crabs, and other species, equivalent to the carbon removal achieved by planting 11.26 hectares of trees for a year. In addition to improving the marine environment, this initiative has increased the value of Haiyang's fishery by 58.687 million yuan.
