XYZ Storage Completes Equipment Installation for Chile's First 100MW-Scale Energy Storage Project

XYZ Storage Technology Corp., Ltd. ("XYZ Storage") recently completed the installation of 68 battery cabins and 34 power conversion systems for its 117MW/262MWh energy storage project in the Atacama region of Chile. This milestone shifts the project focus from civil construction to electrical work, with system commissioning and grid connection scheduled next.

The battery cabin systems were independently developed, designed, and manufactured by XYZ Storage, earning international certifications, including IEC, UL, UN38.3, and UN3536. The system features exceptional performance, safety, and reliability. Combining China's advanced energy storage design and construction experience with local requirements, the project uses high-capacity lithium iron phosphate cells, a 1500V high-voltage platform, and cutting-edge safety technologies. These include IP67 fireproof, explosion-resistant designs, nanomaterial thermal insulation, aerosol fire suppression systems, and efficient thermal management to prevent thermal runaway. An industry-first reverse polarity protection system was integrated to eliminate onsite construction hazards, and the design meets seismic standards for up to magnitude 8 earthquakes. The project construction started in October 2024 and equipment installation was completed in 70 days.

The project represents significant progress for China's first 100MW-scale energy storage project in Chile, addressing local grid challenges and electricity shortages with clean, reliable energy. The successful installation of the project equipment also means that the project has entered the critical stage of grid connection. This achievement underscores XYZ Storage's technical strength, execution capabilities, and growing presence in the global energy storage market.
