"Gansu Electricity to Shandong" Initiative: Ruiqi 330 kV Substation Commissioned Successfully

The Ruiqi 330 kv Substation—a core supporting facility for the "Gansu Electricity to Shandong" Baiyin New Energy Base, developed and operated by SPIC Shandong—has been successfully connected to the grid and began commercial operation following the smooth execution of grid connection procedures. This marks a significant step forward in the high-quality development of the "Gansu Electricity to Shandong" initiative and the efficient cross-regional power transmission.

Located in Beitan Town, Jingyuan County, Baiyin City, the substation serves as the primary grid connection hub for the 1.25 GW renewable installations in Baiyin under the initiative. Its key function is to aggregate the electricity generated by local wind and solar farms, step up the voltage to 330 kV, and transmit the electricity to Shandong power grid via Longdong-Shandong UHVDC line, enabling efficient cross-regional energy consumption. It now stands as SPIC Shandong's central substation with the highest voltage class and the highest penetration of renewable energy.

For SPIC Shandong, the substation's commissioning is strategically critical to the grid connection, project scheduling, and operational management of its wind and solar assets in Baiyin. The company proactively engaged in early-stage planning, optimized resource allocation, and maintained close coordination with local government and energy authorities. It successfully secured the substation's construction and management rights through competitive bidding.

Moving forward, SPIC Shandong will focus on establishing a streamlined, integrated operational model featuring "centralized operation & maintenance + remote monitoring." This initiative will drive the standardized development of smart power stations and enable unified management characterized by "clustered stations, centralized personnel, and shared technology." The goal is to develop the substation into the central hub for operating wind and solar farms in Beitan, contributing to the "Balanced Growth Strategy" and supporting the green, high-quality development in both Shandong and Gansu provinces.
