Three China Power Units Rank in Top 10 of 2024 National Power Unit Reliability Benchmarking
On October 28, 2025, the China Electricity Council (CEC) released the results of the 2024 National Power Unit Reliability Benchmarking, recognizing three China Power units for exceptional operational performance. Unit 6 of Changshu Power Plant ranked in the top 5 among 1000 MW coal-fired units (Peak Shaving Sequence I); Unit 3 of Pingwei Power Plant ranked in the top 10 among 600 MW coal-fired units (Peak Shaving Sequence I); and Unit 4 of Changshu Power Plant ranked in the top 10 among 300 MW coal-fired units (Peak Shaving Sequence I).
This recognition is an authoritative validation of China Power's excellence in unit operation and maintenance (O&M) and equipment health, highlighting its profound expertise and leadership in equipment management, technological innovation, and operational reliability. Pingwei Power Plant has long embraced lean O&M practices and a life-cycle equipment management system. In 2024 alone, it achieved 11 instances of 100-day continuous operation, with Unit 3 completing three such runs and maintaining a 100% equivalent availability factor. As of September 2025, the unit had successfully supported critical power supply missions during peak demand periods, including the Spring Festival and summer peak loads, setting a record with 502 days of continuous stable operation. Changshu Power Plant recorded 11 instances of 100-day continuous safe operation across its fleet in 2024. Unit 6 has been in continuous operation for 320 days since restart after mid-overhaul on November 15, 2023, and Unit 4 for 292 days since restart after mid-overhaul on December 14, 2023.
