Unit 5 of China Power's Pingwei Power Plant Breaks Continuous Operation Record
Unit 5 at China Power's Pingwei Power Plant achieved a record-breaking 203 consecutive days of operation as of March 20, 2026, surpassing its previous benchmark.

The result was delivered amid operating constraints associated with annual scheduled maintenance of the 1,000 kV UHV transmission line serving Pingwei III, which typically affects the continuous operation of Units 5 and 6. Since Unit 5 was synchronized to the grid on August 29, 2025, the company has maintained stringent operational discipline, including strict implementation of "Two Permits and Three Systems" (work permit, operation permit, shift handover system, routine inspection system, and regular equipment test and rotation system) and "Three Checks and One Control Measure". Risk analysis and control was strengthened, monitoring and operating procedures were refined, inspection frequency was increased, and proactive defect investigations and emergency drills were carried out to enhance emergency preparedness and response capability. During the period, Unit 5 successfully ensured secure power supply during critical periods, including summer and winter peak demand seasons and the Two Sessions (the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference), contributing significantly to regional energy security.
