China Power's Shangqiu Subsidiary Launches Mobile Waste-to-Energy Heat Supply Project
Shangqiu China Power Green Power Generation Co., Ltd. ("Shangqiu Green Power"), a subsidiary of China Power, officially launched its mobile heat supply project on March 25, 2026, with the first tanker of steam successfully delivered. This marks a significant milestone in the company's district heat supply business expansion. The project has an annual supply capacity exceeding 22,000 tonnes, serving the industrial parks in Shangqiu High-Tech Zone.

The project converts thermal energy from waste incineration into steam, which is stored in insulated tanks on mobile tankers to enable flexible, point-to-point delivery to end users. This "heating on wheels" model reduces heating costs for surrounding industrial customers, cuts pollutant emissions associated with small boilers, and generates tangible economic returns, establishing a green circular value chain integrating waste incineration, heat recovery, mobile distribution, and end-user heating.
Building on this demonstration project, Shangqiu Green Power plans to expand its industrial customer base and explore pilot industrial parks to promote piped heat supply. This strategic initiative supports the company's transition from a waste treatment facility to a low-carbon energy hub, further unlocking the value of waste-to-energy generation in green and low-carbon development.
