China Power Huachuang Won Grand Prize for Technological Innovation in UAV Intelligent Inspection Technology

On March 27th, 72 technological innovations developed by power generation enterprises, power grid companies and equipment manufacturers from across China won awards at the 2026 Electric UAV Technology Exchange Seminar hosted by the China Electrical Equipment Management Association. Among them, the "Cloud Platform-Based Application of UAV Intelligent Inspection Technology in Wind and Solar Stations" from China Power Huachuang received the grand prize for technological innovation in the electric UAV inspection technology.

In light of the demand from wind power and photovoltaic stations to improve quality and efficiency, China Power Huachuang New Energy Institute has intensively studied how to apply UAVs in the new energy sector. Based on the actual situation of new energy stations, we created an inspection system integrating the "cloud platform + UAV + artificial intelligence algorithm", deployed servers locally to integrate the modularized functions of point cloud modeling, route planning and defect identification in the cloud platform, and achieved the data visualization management, high-precision modeling, and route planning and implementation by utilizing the UAV real-time dynamic differential positioning technology, thereby overcoming the industry's difficulties in precisely planning UAV routes. The system effectively eliminates the shortcomings of traditional UAV operation in positioning accuracy and data processing, greatly improves the detection accuracy and efficiency, and effectively enhances station management and equipment health.

Currently, the system is in use at many new energy power stations in China, where it has identified more than 1000 defects to date.
