Initial Ignition of #8 boiler of China Power's Pingwei Phase IV Project Succeeded on First Attempt
At 9:16 p.m. on April 4, the initial ignition of #8 boiler for the 2×1000 MW ultra-supercritical double-reheat generating units of the China Power's Pingwei Phase IV project succeeded on the first attempt. This not only verifies the excellent performance of the boiler body and its auxiliary system, but also enables the upcoming steam purging of the boiler, laying a good foundation for the subsequent full-unit start-up and grid connection.

The initial ignition of the boiler is a pivotal milestone in the construction of a thermal power project, which involves complex technology, multiple systems, and significant coordination challenges. To ensure the absolute success of the ignition, the company coordinated with multiple stakeholders, including the owner, construction contractors, commissioning teams, supervisors, and equipment manufacturers, to form a special team. Prior to ignition, the team conducted thorough system inspections and logic transmission tests, systematically overcoming multiple technical challenges related to the fuel supply, air and flue gas systems, and control logic, and developed detailed operational procedures and contingency plans. During the ignition, personnel from all parties remained at their posts and worked closely together, and the smooth transition and precise control of the boiler from a cold state to successful ignition were achieved by using the micro-oil ignition method. The entire process was safe, orderly and controllable.
