China Power Dabieshan Wins First Prize for Carbon Reduction Technology

China Power Dabieshan recently received the First Prize of the "2026 Coal-Fired Power Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction Technological Innovation Awards," presented by the China Electrical Equipment Management Association. The award recognizes the company's breakthrough project, "Real-time Carbon Emission Measurement, Low-Carbon Operation Optimization, and Key Technology Application for Thermal Power Units."

Focusing on low-carbon operation of thermal power units, the project established three mutually verifiable carbon measurement methods: flue gas direct measurement, mass balance, and mathematical modeling. By deploying online monitoring and accounting terminals, the company developed a proprietary carbon management platform that integrates energy consumption and carbon efficiency analysis, fuel management, and peak-shaving modules. The platform has transformed carbon accounting from a periodic annual process to real-time, second-level monitoring, improving data accuracy from ±20% to within ±5%. This capability provides precise guidance for dynamic operational optimization, significantly reducing carbon emission intensity.

Following this project, China Power Dabieshan became one of Hubei Province's first pilot entities for digital carbon measurement. It has led the formulation of three local standards and received recognition from the Hubei Provincial Administration for Market Regulation.
