First Grid Connection of #8 Unit of China Power Pingwei Phase IV Project Succeeded on First Attempt

At 10:38 a.m. on May 1st, the first grid connection of #8 unit of Pingwei Phase IV 2×1000 MW Ultra Supercritical Coal-fired Generating Unit Project, which was jointly owned and managed by China Power, succeeded on the first attempt. Each system of the unit operated smoothly, and the main parameters, such as vibration and temperature rise, met the technical specifications satisfactorily. This grid connection is another major milestone of the project construction after #7 unit successfully passed the 168-hour full-load test run on February 9, marking a key step for the China Power Pingwei Phase IV Project to be put into full operation.

The grid connection task of #8 unit fell on the "May 1" holiday, and the quality supervision and inspection for full-unit start-up were conducted at the same time, so the task was heavy and came with a tight schedule and high standards. To ensure a smooth grid connection, the company arranged for the project team to conduct key tests, including boiler pipe purging test, steam turbine rolling test, generator short circuit test and simulated synchronization test, with high standards in the early stage, and strictly checked safety, quality and technology throughout the process. Additionally, the company completed the supervision and inspection rectification on April 29 and successfully obtained the grid-connection opinions by deploying relevant tasks in advance, organizing all project participants to set up a special working group to prepare inspection materials according to the supervision and inspection requirements and the rectification experience of #7 unit, and strengthening communication with the grid dispatching center. During the grid connection, the test run headquarters was responsible for overall planning and dispatching, the operation and commissioning personnel worked diligently to coordinate with the grid dispatching center efficiently, and all project participants cooperated in an orderly manner and implemented their tasks accurately, ensuring that the whole process was smooth, orderly, and efficient and the grid connection goal was successfully completed.
