China Power XYZ Storage Technology’s High-Safety Immersion-Type Energy Storage Achievement Recognized by Authoritative Expert Panel, Reaching Internationally Leading Level

On May 26, the appraisal meeting for the scientific and technological achievement titled "Key Materials, Equipment Technology, and Application of High-Safety Immersion-Type Electrochemical Energy Storage" was successfully held in Beijing. The appraisal meeting was organized by the Society of Public Safety Science and Technology, with authoritative academicians and experts from the industry specially invited to form the appraisal committee. After review by the expert panel, the committee unanimously concluded that the overall technology of the project had reached an internationally leading level.

This key scientific research project was led by China Power XYZ Storage Technology under China Power, in collaboration with Tsinghua University, the Institute of Public Safety Research of Tsinghua University in Hefei, Beijing WeLion New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., and Xinyuan Qingcai Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. Together, they formed an industry-university-research collaborative team to precisely address the core safety pain points of the electrochemical energy storage industry and carry out long-term specialized technical research. The team innovatively developed a fully immersed liquid-cooling energy storage system and established a full-chain energy storage safety technology system covering materials, equipment, and system applications. This effectively addresses common industry safety challenges such as thermal runaway, fire, and explosion in energy storage batteries, providing a solid technical foundation for the large-scale and safe application of electrochemical energy storage.

The appraisal committee, composed of seven renowned industry experts including Academician Xie Heping, Academician Zhang Laibin, and Academician Yang Yongping of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, carefully listened to the overall project research and development report and reviewed the technical materials in detail. Through rigorous questioning, discussion, and technical exchange, the committee conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the project's technological innovation, safety breakthroughs, and industrial practicality. The expert panel highly recognized the technological innovation value and safety-enabling role of the achievement, and, in light of industry development trends, provided professional optimization guidance, offering an important scientific basis for subsequent technological iteration, upgrading, and large-scale application of the results.

After the meeting, the expert panel also visited the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Emergency Management for Joint Innovation in Fire Safety of Electrochemical Energy, which was established under the leadership of China Power. The experts conducted an on-site review of the project’s experimental research and development, technical testing, and related work, and fully recognized the laboratory's scientific research and innovation capabilities, the effectiveness of industry-university-research integration, and its ability to transform scientific and technological achievements.
