Changshu Power Plant Employees Secure National Utility Model Patent

On June 5, 2026, China Power's Changshu Power Plant was granted a utility model patent by the China National Intellectual Property Administration for a dust suppression device for bucket-wheel stacker-reclaimer heads independently developed by the plant's employees.

Stacking and reclaiming operations are a key process in coal handling at thermal power plants. However, these operations generate large amounts of fugitive dust, accelerating abrasion of mechanical equipment, undermining operational stability, and shortening equipment service life. To address this issue, the plant developed a spray dust suppression system tailored to bucket-wheel stacker-reclaimer operating conditions. The device can be installed precisely in main dust-generating areas, including the west side of the main roller on the boom head, the east side of the bucket wheel, and directly above the guide chute on the boom head. It delivers targeted, wide-area water mist coverage over the bucket-wheel stacker-reclaimer's main working area, helping suppress dust at the source. The device has been deployed on two bucket-wheel stacker-reclaimers serving the plant's 1,000MW generating units and has significantly improved the working environment in the coal yard.
